Description/Abstract
The development of complex artifacts and systems entails effective and frequent sharing of knowledge throughout the development process and across multiple disciplines. To address the challenge of knowledge creation in this kind of complex process, the need to develop advanced computational methods in support of the creation and sharing of knowledge in a collaborative manner has been raised. This special session precisely aims to focus on novel research work that attempts to address this need by bridging two important aspects, namely Knowledge Management (KM) and collaboration. This specifically involves:
• Collaborative systems to facilitate KM
• Enabling collaboration through effective KM
• Advanced computational methods that deal with the large amount of data generated and on this basis support extraction and retrieval of knowledge.
The theories, models, methods and tools for these three aspects are of interest to this session.
